the freesound project + revived contacts
Recently I discovered The Freesound Project and was immediately inspired to upload and share sounds (which is what the site is all about). I find that the site is well designed and easy to use.
According to the site: “The Freesound Project aims to create a huge collaborative database of audio snippets, samples, recordings, bleeps, … released under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus License. The Freesound Project provides new and interesting ways of accessing these samples…”
With a strange twist of coincidence I was just thinking to post something about The Freesound Project when my old friend Wolfgang (Fadi) Dorninger beat me to it! Fadi recently contacted me after a number of years of silence when he came across my site. I see that (apart from many projects) he also has been actively engaged in doing field recordings and posting some of them on his excellent bike-mike blog. This is great to see, not only because I know Fadi, but because he’s a dynamic musician, organizer, sound producer-collector-composer and traveler who is willing to share his discoveries online.
